We are looking for an Engineering Design Co-ordinator to join our Ascent Homes team.

Your new role: As the Engineering Design Co-ordinator

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Ensure the quality of engineering information provided both internally and externally is of the highest standards.
  • Assist with site queries in relations to civil and structural issues and relay back to consultants
  • Procure / produce information to assist the legal/sales team (deed plans etc)
  • Build strong working relationships with external engineering consultants
  • Actively participate, contribute and lead in design team meetings

To succeed in this role: 

You must be able to demonstrate key skills and experience in the following key areas:

  • Experience of planning, organising and prioritising own workload
  • Experience working with Auto CAD is essential
  • Experience in registering sites as well as clearing conditions with NHBC and LABC
  • Experience primarily in civil engineering to aid in evaluation of road, drainage and levels information. 
  • Dealing with section approvals (i.e. road and sewer adoptions etc.). Some geotechnical knowledge would also be beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience in dealing with utility providers and liaison with utility engineers to deliver services (gas, water, electric) to site.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organised and motivated and able to work well both in a team and independently

This is a senior leadership role carrying high visibility across the entire Ascent Homes business. The individual will be a key driver in the success of growing the Ascent Homes business across the length and breadth of Northumberland and the wider region.

As Director you will report to the COO providing leadership for the Ascent Homes business to deliver a high-performing service and lead on the delivery of New Build Homes projects.

Key requirements:

  • Qualified to relevant degree level in construction (or similar).

  • Exceptional leadership and management attributes, a proven ability to motivate, influence and lead an effective, high-performing team.

  • Extensive senior management technical ability and significant knowledge of strategic project and development management in a range of development sectors for a complex group of stakeholders.

  • Expertise and knowledge of complex developments taking place on town centre and brownfield sites, former coalfield sites, enterprise zones and of wholesale mixed- use development plans, including critical infrastructure and transport solutions.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practice in programme management, project controls, procurement and managing risk.

  • Ability to formulate strategy and secure Board approval, when applicable, through effective negotiating and influencing to enable the execution of development plans and to achieve the required decision for the project.

  • Demonstrate effective negotiation, influencing and communication skills at all levels.
