The Finance team is central to our activities, supporting the business to ensure we manage all financial transactions in a timely and efficient manner, providing reports and analysis of transactions for a diverse business.

The role of Management Accountant is a new role to enhance the work of the department.

THE ROLE

Management Accountant

Salary – £42,000 – £47,000 per annum based on experience.

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team. Our ideal candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified, preferably with an audit background.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

To prepare, develop and analyse key financial information to ensure that the Advance Northumberland Board, ELT and Heads of departments make well-informed, data driven decisions to ensure future financial stability, growth and profitability.

To establish and maintain financial policies and management information systems, providing high-quality support liaising with management colleagues on all aspects of finance.

Job title: Management Accountant

Reports to: Financial Controller

Team members: Assistant Management Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Preparing monthly management accounts and other financial reports. Presenting reports to senior management to aid with business decision making.

· Controlling income and expenditure within the business and ensuring that expenditure is in line with budgets.

· Lead on the preparation of the annual budget, revised full year forecast and long-term financial plans, incorporating information gathered through in-year variance analysis and commentaries, ensuring spending is kept in line with the budget.

· Work with heads of department to compile strategies that will reduce business costs. Advising on the financial implications of business decisions. Support the management of risk within the business.

· Developing and overseeing financial systems and procedures and identifying opportunities to improve these.

· Communicating with all levels within the organisation and being able to present financial information to non-finance members of staff.

· Advise on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions and preparation of reports for submission to the Audit Committee and Advance Northumberland Board.

· Financial appraisal of new projects, preparation of cash flows, sensitivities analysis and instigating funding drawdowns as and when required.

· Reconciliation of actual spend to programme managers records, and provision of information to the Advance Northumberland Group and external stakeholders as appropriate.

· Support the preparation of in-year and year-end periodic financial statements including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, cashflow statements and associated notes for inclusion within board reports and statutory accounts, ensuring that movements in year are analysed and clearly explained.

· Advise on current business asset valuations, capital projects and investments through analytical qualitative and quantitative techniques.

· Day-to-day management of the finance team, ensuring achievement of KPIs, month-end deadlines, and effective performance management.

Personal Specification

Essential Criteria

· Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

· ACA, ACCA or CIMA professional qualification

· Experience of financial forecasting and management

· People management experience

· Experience of audit processes and reporting

· Experience of tax analysis and compliance

· High level IT skills and ability to interpret data, utilising technology to visualise data effectively

It would be good but not essential if you also have:

· Experience of using Sage Intacct software
