Morpeth Engineering company expands into new sectors
Family owned business, Clifton Engineering is thriving, thanks to its investment into new machinery and expanding into new sectors.
Clifton Engineering’s business is the supply of precision machined components & assemblies for a wide range of sectors including power generation, automotive, oil and gas, food, aerospace and motorsports with a number of blue chip, international companies on its prestigious client list.
Since the expansion to their factory in Morpeth to 17,000 sq ft, they have grown their capacity and have seen huge successes in a global market. They have recently invested in two new CNC machines and another in December to assist with the precision engineering work they carry out for their customers.
The company was set up in 1993 and prides itself on the loyalty of its team, many of whom have worked there for a number of years. They currently employ 35 people including four apprentices and are very keen on retaining the talent and skills.
Andrew Pearson, Managing Director of Clifton Engineering said: “We recognised the skills shortage back in 2001, when we actively started recruiting apprentices. We wanted to ensure the skills transfer of our more experienced team, as well as bringing new knowledge and techniques of advanced CNC technology into the company.”
Clifton Engineering are looking to expand their customer base in offshore and subsea industries to meet the increasing demand in this sector. Located just a few miles from Northumberland’s deep-water ports, this opens up huge opportunities and connections within the UK and globally. Their intricate knowledge of precision engineering in oil & gas, automotive and aerospace gives them the skills for expansion within this new sector, and are already diversifying into the manufacture wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for offshore and subsea engineering applications.
